we are considering getting a cake topper, but my girlfriend is baking us cupcakes. is there such a thing as a cupcake topper? maybe it's best to find a teeny tiny little cake topper?
looking around etsy has some beautiful handmade cake toppers. here is an adorable bird cake topper from lauren alene.
And she even makes my favorite - owls! perhaps we need an owl cupcake topper in brown and pink.
inspiration from lauren aleneHmm, my next step is to investigate what our cake stand will look like and measure the diameter of a cupcake. then it would be wise to enjoy the cupcake and not let it go to waste :)

i wanted a cake topper too even though we have cupcakes... i ended up getting a smaller one and will have a 6" cake on the top of the cupcake stand with the topper on it... but i have also seen where they place a larger cupcake topper in front or the cupcakes or just on the stand next to the cupcakes...
tara - thanks for your tip. i need to figure out what our cupcake stand will look like. i love the idea of a small cake at the top or i think we can just have the topper on the top stand (depending on the size). which topper did you choose? i love the vintage bike topper you found (esp cause my fiance and i LOVE riding!)
those rock! my friend is doing my cupcakes too and i'm not sure about a cake topper yet either. she suggested the small cake on top, which will work with our stands, but i like the idea of keeping it all cupcakes.
dubbs, the little cake is easy but if you want to keep all cupcakes i think you can. i have been emailing with lauren alane, and she asked what type of cupcake stand that i would have cause you could put just the topper on the top tier. just an idea :)
these are SO cute! we had cupcakes, and did a cake on top, though if you are whipping up your own toppers, it would be easy to make a few components that could go on a few different cupcakes. that way, you still get the cupcake look, but you also get the topper. you know, having your cake... and eating it too (sorry, couldn't resist!).
