i have this new fascination with dark purple and lime green. this would be a cute rehersal dinner outfit. the only problem is the price of the derek lam dress (eek!). a girl can imagine. i may however get the nine west shoes in a dark purple for my wedding shoes. fabulous no?

unusual but fabulous registries

we have already registered at some of the usual suspects - williams sonoma, crate & barrel, macys, and rei. but check out these gorgeous handcrafted pieces from whitney smith and dovetail shop and studio. i saw that both have "registries" on etsy, and whitney smith has one on her website. is 6 registries too many? :-)

we were walking around polk street in sf this evening and fell upon these lovely shoes in lavande spa. they are cindy says and i had to get them. need and want are synonomous here. i think they are too casual for my wedding dress, but perhaps for rehersal dinner or the shower. it is silly to find a dress that matches with the shoes? is that backwards?

our first tasting

today we had our first tasting with a potential caterer, melons catering. the food was delicious. my favorite was a slow-cooked spare rib over risotto and lima beans. since my fiance is vegetarian, i was lucky to have two servings! then this caramel ice cream a wonton cone, so savory and yummy. we also learned that they source their food locally and buy organic, major plus. we still have a few other caterers that we are looking at but tastings are great!

melons is also one of the preferred vendors for our wedding location, the swedenborian church in san francisco. here is a glimpse of our gorgeous venue.

i just got these dresses for my bridesmaids. what do you think? i think the deep v-neck will look fabulous on all the girls. and they were a great deal with 20% off retail ($198) then I found a coupon to anntaylor.com that is an extra 25% and free shipping. found the coupon on retailmenot.com. ended up at $128 per dress. time to think about accessories!

Christine Iridescent Taffeta Double V-Neck Dress

i went to alexandra salon yesterday with my best friend, who was engaged on the same day! she found an amazing pricilla of boston wedding dress with gorgeous detailing. it was a sample sale so she got an amazing deal. i am looking for a photo but haven't found one yet.

the salon also had bridesmaids dresses as a part of their sample sale and i got two dresses i can use as cocktail dresses or perhaps a rehersal dinner dress? one was $39.98 and the other was $69.98, what a STEAL! Here is the taffeta dress (priscilla of boston) in olivene green... the other is a black bubble dress. i need some alterations to make the bodice fit better, and i am thinking about shortening the length. i love a great deal!

taffeta makes me happy

taffeta might be my favorite fabric. my wedding dress is taffeta, and now check out this adorable taffeta dress from bcbg. perhaps a cute dress for the rehersal dinner?

stream of consciousness

1. i got a two packages today, one is my wedding jewelry from kelli hale. yay! the jewels are perfect. i already want to wear them! the second is a wedding dress garment bag i ordered from eBay.
2. the garment bag is critical. i got my wedding dress on craigslist a few weeks back, it was a STEAL. only $500 from a girl who was married 2 years ago and doing some spring cleaning. i want to post a picture of the dress, but alas mr.right is a frequent viewer of my blog. so no pics until the wedding.
3. the dress is a bit big on me, so today i went to the seamstress with my friend to get fitted. the fitting went well, only need to take in the bodice a few inches, then a few tweaks in the bust. my next fitting is june 6th.
4. for the fitting, i brought some shoes i wore at a friend's wedding a few years back. this simple white kitten heal sandals. they look cute with the dress, i may not need shoes!
5. random thought, we just ordered indian food for dinner. did you know the difference between saag paneer and palak paneer? the answer is here.
6. we ended up getting the granger pink small spot woven ties for the groomsmen from charles tyrwhitt. simple and classy. can't wait for them to come in the mail.

i was in chicago over the weekend for my girlfriend's bachelorette party. on saturday, we ran into this adorable golden retriever girl. i just wanted to share her smile with everyone.

my mother-in-law-to-be recommended that we check out charles tyrwitt, a men's clothing line based in the uk. the prices are reasonable and right now they are having deal where you can get 3 ties for 65 pounds (or $150). here are a few of our fave pink ties possibly for the groomsmen.

here are a few initial thoughts for potential dresses for my bridesmaids. i think dark brown is more simple and classy but the bright pink is so fun. we'll have to figure out fun pink accents if the girls end up with brown.
